A programme for life and workplace skills training for young adults
leaving care
5 Day Induction Course
Aim:
To provide participants with skills and
confidence to work effectively with others in an office or
similar environment.
Objectives
At the end of the course participants are able
to:

Identify some of their own achievements and
strengths

Understand how we communicate and how
individuals communicate differently
-
Show an understanding of the importance of
customer care
-
Demonstrate effective social skills for day to
day relationships with colleagues
-
Manage difficult situations more effectively
-
Present themselves in a way that is appropriate
for the workplace
The course is participative and fun, with a
practical exercise/activity for homework. Each session follows
the same format to enhance trust and build confidence with
opportunities for one-to-one mentoring. The course comprises:

Day 1 Getting to know Each Other

Day 2 Basic communication

Day 3 Customer Care
-
Day 4 Personal presentation I
-
Day 5 Personal presentation II
Ongoing training for young people
Each session includes time for participants to identify
their achievements and discuss their concerns. The full programme is
developed once the work is commissioned. The topics are selected from the
following list –and/or others, which will be identified during our
training:

calls, eating, drinking and language)
