Synopsis:
This course provides an opportunity for
participants to identify the essential components for the provision
of effective person-centred planning for service users with whom
they work and to review and update the skills required to do this.
Review assessment skills and implementation of good practice.
Person-centred planning as a way to ensuring that
the user is viewed as an individual.
Person-centred planning as a tool in quality
assurance.
The effective use of agency documentation.
The process of planning and a review of the
present practice.
Application to practice - learning by doing.
Introducing planning practice: systems and
procedures.
The role of the family carer.
Aims and objectives:
To ensure competent practice in the
sensitive area of individual work.
To examine the importance of person
centred planning for quality care in the community and thus
for the organisation.
To teach the process of person centred
planning.
To rehearse the appropriate skills and to
provide the enabling knowledge for the relevant NVQ units,
where appropriate.
To link the practice and process of
person centred planning to the organisations agreed
documentation.
Methods:
Small and large group work, role-play, case
studies and video materials.
