To identify issues relating to self neglect in relation to elderly people
To raise awareness of the interrelation between self-neglect and depression or dementia
To develop assessment and intervention strategies for staff dealing with self-neglecting elderly people

To enable staff to identify the range of signs of self neglect
To develop strategies to communicate effectively with self neglecting elderly people
To identify differences between depression and dementia
To develop strategies for risk assessment of suicide
