Synopsis:
A review of NHS and Community Care Act, Carers Act, Care Programme Approach, Community Care Assessment and Care Management including related legislation; e.g. Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons legislation and implications for practice.
Aims & Objectives:
Participants will be given the opportunity to:
- Familiarize themselves with the principal aspects/components of legislation and statutory guidance
- Develop skills and methods for "accessing" legislative and statutory material.
- · Consider how best to intervene/advocate on behalf of clients/service users where statutory/legislative issues may arise.
Methods:
- The various relevant areas of legislation/statute will be considered using written exercises, case studies, role play and practice queries.
This course will not offer formal legal opinions in any particular case. Although roles/responsibilities of the various individuals involved in the application of these acts will be explored/explained, this is not a professional qualifying course.
